BOONE, N.C. — ECR Software Corporation (ECRS), a regionally owned commercial enterprise in Boone, has introduced the established order of a Computer Science High Achievers Scholarship for college kids inside the Department of Computer Science at Appalachian State University.
The new scholarship application will offer collaborative mentoring and research possibilities to college students pursuing computer technological know-how ranges who have expressed a hobby in developing revolutionary and entrepreneurial thoughts.

Over the following four years, ECRS will award a $176,000 scholarship assistance to 8 computer technology undergraduates and graduate college students in the branch. The first cohort will be part of the modern-day seven ECRS Computer Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship scholars in the fall of 2019.
Accepted incoming first-year recipients will receive a $four 000 scholarship consistent with 12 months for four years upon meeting the program requirements. The incoming graduate college students will acquire a $12,000 fellowship for their first and 2nd years of look.
All recipients may have opportunities to collaborate and share studies with each other, as well as work closely with branch school individuals and report on their studies during Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) seminars at Appalachian, where Appalachian’s interdisciplinary cohort of S-STEM students additionally participates.
ECRS scholars may have the opportunity to participate in internships and part-time or full-time employment provided by ECRS and other technology-associated groups.
In addition, the graduate fellows will begin every work with a faculty member within the Department of Computer Science and a mentor at ECRS to conduct both preferred and specific research, including computer vision and machine learning.
Over the past several years, ECRS has labored carefully with colleagues and students in the Department of Computer Science at Appalachian on diverse studies initiatives, student packages, scholarship opportunities, and other sports.
ECRS employs many graduates from Appalachian’s computer technology program to improve, distribute, and support worldwide-class retail automation systems. In 2016, the business enterprise donated a laptop with an effective picture processing unit (GPU) that allowed students to remedy relatively parallelizable problems in a finger-on-direction round computer structure. In the fall of 2018, Appalachian partnered with ECRS to create a beneficial training software designed for students in its Scholarship with Diverse Abilities Program (SDAP).
